Youth Worker Position Information

Thessalonika Family Services is currently accepting resumes for Youth Worker positions. The following information will provide you some understanding regarding this employment opportunity.

The Youth Worker position provides 40 hours per week of full time employment working with children coming from backgrounds of abuse and neglect. These children are placed in our Temecula area group homes where they may reside anywhere from approximately 6 months to possibly 2 or 3 years while they begin the journey of healing in our therapeutic treatment program and start to learn the skills they will need to overcome the obstacles they face from the trauma of their past.

As part of a staff team, the Youth Worker will be trained to provide nurture and understanding unique to the children's emotional needs. The Youth Worker will learn to build trusting relationships with the children, plan group outings and activities, help with meal preparation, assist with homework and academic projects, keep the home organized and clean, as well as proactively assist the children overcome the affects of the abuse they've suffered.

Additionally, the Youth Worker will be responsible for transporting the children to various events and activities, assisting them with the many details of their everyday life routine, implementing therapeutic treatment interventions, and providing the appropriate role modeling and mentoring the children will need to help them once again build trusting relationships with others - particularly adults.

You do not need to have prior college education in order to be considered for this position, nor do you have to have prior work experience in this field.  We will give you the tools and provide the training to help you succeed in this vital service to special needs children. Your receptivity to training, supervision, instruction, and personal growth will facilitate your success in becoming a successful part of our team that makes an incredible impact in the lives of the children we serve.

To be considered for a position you must be able to successfully pass a fingerprinted criminal background check within 7 calendar days.  If our Agency does not receive your background clearance within 7 calendar days, any offer of employment will be rescinded.  Secondly, you must have had at least 2 years of state-licensed driving experience and have a driving history that would satisfy our insurance underwriting criteria.

The starting pay rate on this position is $10.00 per hour. Pertaining to paid benefits, the Youth Worker position provides annual paid vacation in addition to paid medical/dental insurance, sick pay, paid holidays, and life insurance.
